We just started cooking Vietnamese food, but Lao food is clearly next! Buying this book now, and thank you for sharing all the thoughtful details and timelines that go in to a project of this magnitude. It is very rare and valuable to have this kind of access and these insights.
I am so glad to have another Lao cookbook in the world. And it is beautiful! Can’t wait to start cooking from it. Thanks all for the behind the scenes scenes!
Loved this post, Sally. I think it's so important that we pull the curtain back for readers on making books—it's a complex, very rewarding process! And wow! Saeng wrote, styled, and shot this whole book? He is a rare author/artist. Congratulations to him, you, and the Ten Speed team on this new book, can't wait to see it!
Thanks, yea it was such a unique example to share for a variety of reasons and I’m glad that both Saeng and Ten Speed were open to my sharing the BTS. And yes, he’s enormously talented! The on location AND food shots are so beautiful
Great story. Congrats to Saeng and his diligence and work. How nice to have such a supportive smart team to bring his book to life. Will support and order the book!
Congrats on reaching the 7K mark, Sally! Today's edition is a treasure that illuminates at least one way that a book comes to fruition. Wishing all the best to Saeng, you, and everyone BTS on this project. And I learned about MOFAD! How did I not know about it? I'll go this week or next.
