This was such a fascinating peek into the process!

I'm attending the summit this year (first time!) and so excited (and a little nervous, lol). It wasn't really on my radar, but this post sparked my curiosity. I thought "what the hell" and before I could talk myself out of it, got my ticket and booked a flight... see y'all next week!

Just read your post Sally… Another wonderful one! I’ve already mentioned to you, but I so wanted to come to IACP this year primarily for your session! The conference is only two days this year compared to four days in past years and I just couldn’t justify the expense of the Overseas travel this time around. I am a member of IACP so I hope I’ll at least be able to see a recording of your session at some point?…

That’s completely understandable! I do not believe the session is being recorded or available to members since it’s an exclusive IRL session that I’ve designed for the summit. That said, keep an eye out for programming in the new year from yours truly. I haven’t offered a workshop in over two years outside of the guest teaching I do, and guess what?! I’m cooking up a good one!

I say this tongue in cheek, but secretly hopeful it could happen, I think your next workshop should be located in Rome, Italy! I think I know someone who could organize it for you, lol!

Very much looking forward to the next workshop you are cooking up!

Great post, Sally, and I liked all of your side notes—the additional context is so helpful. I was a judge in the food photography section last year and can attest to how rigorous—and secretive!—the judging process is across the board at the IACP. Winners and nominees should indeed feel very proud to be selected.

It’s such a fascinating part of the industry I was excited to dig into a bit more. Thanks for reading!
