HI Sally, I am a founding member of the Nashville chapter of Les Dames, and I am excited to be among the group hosting you! I actually booked a "meet an agent" session with Lauren MacLeod because the guidance suggested attendees with memoirs sign up for a session with her - but I hope we can cross paths just to say "hi." Wishing you safe travels - the only advice I can offer you is that we are expecting some hideous weather this week, starting today. Bring an umbrella or rain hat and raincoat. Everyone you meet is going to BE a restaurateur or adjacent, so I have no doubt you will enjoy much yumminess while you are in Nashville.
Hi Sally! I once hauled my emotional baggage (and an actual shipping container) to Spain then onto France. Cat in a carrier, key tossed from a taxi window, total chaos. So yes - let’s talk.
Hi Sally! Thanks for the follow - and for the laugh with your “baggage” post. You inspired me. Excited to follow your words—and your wildly relatable takes on this world.
Ah yes, the 2am inventory — where fashion meets functionality and existential dread. I’ve mentally packed and unpacked that perfect bag a dozen times before sunrise. If it exists, it’s probably hiding somewhere between a unicorn and a decent night’s sleep.
The symposium sounds amazing! I'd love to attend one day. I remember traveling when my girls were littles. The endless preparations to make sure they had everything they needed, not too mention making plans for all their fun activities while I was away, seemed to be more work than my actual trip. Ha! Have a wonderful time in Nashville. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
a friend changed my life introducing me to some of the parts bags — they fit books, kid toys/snacks, water bottles and laptops depending on which you get! and gorgeous but hardy https://someoftheparts.ca
Love this! For food conference shoes, my go-to for the past couple years has been Naturalizer slip on black leather sneakers. They look dressier than my other sneakers but are still comfortable enough to walk to restaurants in, and to stand for 2 hour mingling receptions. https://go.shopmy.us/p-15353832
for the hold-all bag, why not a cute backpack-style bag, like a Kate Spade? You hardly know it's there. Not really for a cocktail reception, as it's not great for evening outfits, but for the day's lugging.
Hi Sally, Looking forward to saying hi at Cherry Bombe!

See you soon! Also trying to figure out that mythical hold all, but look cute, and not hurt my shoulder cause it's too heavy bag!
It’s one of the world’s great mysteries
Perfect timing! I'll see you in Nashville!
Yay!!!
This is a most useful list of to-dos, Sally! Good one to reprint before any such conference…
