You make us cry too. You believe in us at times when others think our thoughts of publishing a cookbook is “cute” or a hobby. You play a part in cultivating the power within in from sheer ambition, to talent, to trusted leaders whose books reside in kitchens. We cry too. Thank you, Sally!
You really are such a generous person, Sally, thank you. (happy tear 🥲) The AMA was great and a couple of writers took me up on my offer, so they will be in an upcoming newsletter!
Wasn’t able to make the zoom but planning to go back and watch. Always appreciate your generous spirit and approach to your work. It has given me more confidence in my own work! ✨✨
The AMA session was so good! I had to watch the replay (because work), but so useful. Thank you for continuing to provide this source of interactive information.
Sally I enjoy your newsletter more than I can say. I am a foodie and a lover of entertaining, not a cookbook hopeful. 😊 Just enjoying the little tribe and vibe you’ve created! Keep up the good work!!
I am doing well- busy- still working on building my audience- you mentioned something in a post once that I wanted to ask you about- ‘that agents tend to look at instagram followers over substack’. Is that what you said or did I imagine it? Ive found myself spending more time on Substack lately and wondered if its where my focus should be. My health is good! And that’s a blessing- Happy to see you well- and thriving- loved the video with your sister!
I don’t know if I said that but I’d say that the three most common social accounts for cookbook authors to have platform that agents and editors take note are: IG, Tik Tok, and Substack. I see more and more people gaining traction here with a larger readership base and that came certainly outweigh lower social numbers. You have a direct line to people here! Subscriber count and open rate and rate of growth are definitely helpful!
Happy 1 year anniversary! And thank you for all the info you share. It has really helped me think through things relating to publishing a cookbook someday!

Great piece.
I love the “Huff and Puff” term and will start using it for my working walks 😜(assuming you don’t mind)
Oh gosh, of course not!!
